“Always remember, your focus determines your reality.” – Qui-Gon Jinn

I only thought it appropriate to introduce myself with a movie quote.  I have long considered myself multilingual.  Outside of English, I also think of myself as fluent in sarcasm and movie quote.  No doubt you’ll notice this as you get to know me better through my posts.

My name is Eric Greenhalgh, and I am a native of Cache Valley in Northern Utah.  I am presently pursuing an accounting degree at Utah State University where I am a member of the Institute of Managerial Accountants and an affiliate of Beta Alpha Psi.

I am a curious person who loves to learn new things and expand my current knowledge of things I already know.  Part of the reason for my blog is that writing is a way to crystallize the things I have learned and to open up the opportunity for discussion and an even greater expansion of my understanding

My primary objective with this blog is to foster the concept of challenging one’s perceptions.  As an individual born and raised in a small valley in Northern Utah, I was raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons).  There are very specific cultural and religious proclivities associated with this faith, which I hope to address from time to time.

A strong attachment to conservative political beliefs is another geographical endowment.  I have always found myself lining up with these beliefs, but I am also calling some of them into question as I take a look at the current political climate of the United States as a whole.  I am ever leaning more toward a libertarian philosophy as the reach of government becomes more and more expansive.  While some of my feelings are extreme, one of the rules of negotiation is to never begin a negotiation by stating your desired objective.  You start at an extreme and then come to an agreement in the middle, which will be much more likely to be near your desired objective than starting with your objective and moving more toward the objective of the other party.

My other passions are food, fitness, and photography. Such being the case, I will occasionally throw some of this material into my posts as well.

Assuming my readership grows, I will undoubtedly start to gear toward a specific focus in one of these areas.  Right now, this is just a testing ground – a laboratory – to see what works and what doesn’t.  It is also my chance to put my thoughts into a tangible medium to better view them.  My own personal pensive, as it were.

Outside insight is always appreciated and encouraged.  If you find my sit interesting, please take a moment or two and let me know what drew you here and if you found something worthwhile.
